On the 18th October 2006, the Biopark celebrates its 10th birthday. This event will be marked by the presence on site of the many public, private and academic bodies who contribute to the teaching, research or business projects on a daily basis.
On the eve of this anniversary, we offer a brief history of the Biopark.
In 1993 the business leaders of the Vichy area create the concept of a specialised business park for the Health-Beauty-Fitness sector. Work begins in 1995, and in January 1996 the first company, Vichy Medical Product (VMP), moves in.
On the 19th October of that same year, the first stone is officially laid for two company premises, constituting 2000 m² for tertiary and production activity.
Following the arrival of Moinet Vichy Santé and the extension of VMP in 1999, the year 2000 saw the Biopark receive the "Qualiparc " endorsement from the Allier General Council, in recognition of its strategic status and its quality of facilities and organisation.
The opening in 2001 of the Vichy University and Technology Centre enabled the development of other sectors in response to the requirements of the businesses in the Vichy area and especially those of the Biopark (health, nutrition, pharmacy…).
In 2002, the site boasted 14 businesses and 90 jobs.
The year 2005 was a busy one, with the redevelopment of the access roads, new lighting, preparation of new plots for development and the completion at the end of the year of new rental premises measuring 2700 m² and comprising multi-purpose office/laboratory accommodation and 4 production areas.
During the first half of 2006, the Biopark welcomed several new companies, thus justifying the construction work and contributing to the pattern of regular development since its creation.
Today, the Biopark accommodates 18 companies employing 160 staff, 4700 m² of rental space, 25 hectares of development land, 13 of which are 'ready to build', and 45 hectares set aside for future development.
Construction of a new rental complex should be starting at the end of 2006 with business availability during 2007 (program specified by the site contract, project management assured by the Chamber of Commerce of Montluçon/Gannat on behalf of the Vichy Val d'Allier metropolitan council).
